Teeth Whiteningat Dentalcare Swindon
A smile makeover with Teeth Whitening
Over time the food and drink that you consume can cause your teeth to become stained and discoloured. Even careful brushing and regular trips to the dentist can’t prevent this from happening.
Teeth whitening is a popular cosmetic dental treatment which quickly and painlessly treats your teeth to show whiter and brighter teeth. Whether you want to update the look of your teeth for a certain event such as a wedding or holiday, or you want to boost your confidence with changing the appearance of your teeth, then teeth whitening is an effective procedure which is fast and cost effective.
At Dentalcare Swindon we recommend that teeth whitening be overseen by a dental professional to ensure that the treatment is safe. Over the counter products can be risky to your oral and general health.
Teeth whitening in Swindon
At Dentalcare Swindon we can whiten your teeth in the following ways:
Teeth whitening at the surgery
Sometimes referred to as “in chair whitening”, this treatment takes place at the surgery. Your teeth will carefully be covered with a special gel by your dentist which breaks down the stains on your teeth. Then a lamp is placed on to your teeth to speed up the process. This process usually takes about an hour and you will leave the surgery with instant results.
Boutique teeth whitening
You will be fitted with a custom-made tray which sits over the top of your teeth and you either wear this during the day or overnight. Boutique by Day contains peroxide gel and only needs to be worn for about an hour each day as it works quickly. Boutique by Night contains carbamide which is a much gentler whitening process that takes longer to work and is better suited if you have sensitive teeth. Both treatments are safe and work at a time which is convenient to you.
Poladay and Polanight teeth whitening
Similarly, Poladay and Polanight teeth whitening treatment involves you wearing a specially fitted tray over your teeth that is filled with a certain amount of gel. It can be worn for as little as 30 minutes during the day or overnight whilst you sleep. Poladay uses hydrogen peroxide which is faster working for a quicker treatment and Polanight uses carbamide peroxide which is a slower acting chemical that provides a gentler whitening treatment. Both contain fluoride to protect against sensitivity, it is safe and convenient to use, plus with Pola, you get to choose the shade of white for your teeth.

Frequently asked questions about Teeth Whitening
How will I know how much gel to use in my teeth whitening trays?
Your dentist will explain in detail how much gel you need to put into your trays for your teeth whitening treatment and most importantly how long you need to wear your customised trays for.
Does the process of teeth whitening hurt?
Not normally, no. However, if you have sensitive teeth, you may notice some discomfort whilst your teeth are being whitened. When you go for your initial consultation with your dentist, you should mention if you have sensitive teeth so that you dentist can make a recommendation about which treatment is best for you.
Can I whiten my upper and lower teeth at the same time?
Yes, most people do this. You can either have both sets whitened at the surgery in the same appointment time or you can have custom made trays fitted which you wear on your upper and lower teeth for a set amount of time either during the day or overnight.
